A reversible refractive surgery that implants a specially designed lens behind the iris to correct high myopia and astigmatism.
ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) surgery involves implanting an ultra-thin, flexible artificial lens made of Collamer material through a micro-incision into the posterior chamber (between the iris and natural lens). The procedure does not remove corneal tissue, preserving corneal structural integrity, making it especially suitable for high myopia (>-8.00D) or patients with thin corneas unsuitable for laser surgery. The procedure is reversible—the lens can be removed if needed. ICL is widely performed in China's first-tier cities with annual volumes among the highest globally. The latest V4c/V5 generation features a central port design, eliminating the need for laser iridotomy.

Who Is This For
Step-by-Step Process

Miotic treatment, topical and peribulbar anesthesia, sterile draping.
A micro-incision of approximately 3mm is made at the corneal limbus.
Viscoelastic material injected to maintain anterior chamber space and protect corneal endothelium.
The folded ICL is injected into the anterior chamber through an injector and unfolds behind the iris.
The four ICL haptics are placed in the ciliary sulcus, ensuring centration.
Anterior chamber viscoelastic is irrigated, wound seal is confirmed, no sutures required.
Completed in a single procedure. Both eyes are typically done on separate days or the same day, approximately 15-20 minutes per eye.

What's Included
Public tier-3A International Medical Department: approximately ¥32,000-42,000 (both eyes, including lens); premium private eye centers: approximately ¥40,000-65,000 (both eyes, including custom V4c Toric astigmatism-correcting lens). The ICL lens is custom-imported from Switzerland and accounts for 60-70% of the total cost.
Before Your Visit
If you already have recent valid test results, bring the reports. If not, these assessments can usually be completed in China before the procedure.

Anterior chamber depth measurement (UBM or Pentacam)
Corneal endothelial cell count
Corneal topography
Axial length measurement
Pupil diameter assessment
Required to Bring
Passport and valid visa
Refraction records from past 2 years
Preoperative examination reports
Proof of contact lens discontinuation (soft 1 week, RGP 1 month)
Accompaniment needed on surgery day; vision may be temporarily blurred.
After Treatment
Rest with eyes closed on surgery day; avoid rubbing eyes
Normal eye use possible from the next day
Avoid water contact with eyes for 1 week
Avoid swimming and strenuous exercise for 1 month
Use prescribed anti-inflammatory and antibiotic eye drops
